- After sufficient wood pellets have made their way to the fire pot, wait for the burner to ignite the pellets. Keep the lid open until you see smoke coming out of the grill. This means that the pellets are ignited, and your grill is working.
- Close the lid and increase the temperature of your pellet grill to its maximum temperature limit, or at least 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Keep the pellet grill running at this temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes. This will eliminate any chemical residues or impurities that might be sticking on the inner surface of the grill.
- Turn off the pellet grill after 20 to 30 minutes. Do not unplug the pellet grill to ensure the fan continues to spin while burning off the remaining pellets.
